As it’s World Book Day, we thought we’d share some our favourite books from when we were children…
Ben Hall – Design & Development
Fantastic Mr Fox by Roald Dahl
“One that I really enjoyed when I was very young was Mr Fantastic Fox by Roald Dahl, I think it was the way my reception teacher read it to us, it felt like you were immersed within the story, and it made me laugh, like all Roald Dahl books!”
Colette Gollcher – Managing Director
“My Dad used to tell us stories, not from books, he used to just make them up…I have lovely memories of being sat on the bed listening with great intent and anticipation. Dad is still a great animated story teller!!”
Lauren Walker – Training, Research & Media Co-ordinator
Winnie The Pooh – A.A Milne
“I remember being read lots of Winnie the Pooh books and of course Roald Dahl books. I also remember that we had a BIG BOOK of stories…one of my favourites from that was about a king who ate so many doughnuts that he turned into one!! That always made me and my brother giggle. Now, Roald Dahl has become another big hit in our house…Matilda being an all time favourite with our little one.”
Sam Edmondson – Admin and Finance
Goodnight Mr Tom by Michelle Magorian
“One of my favourites is definitely Goodnight Mister Tom, I loved the story from start to finish but mostly how a complete stranger changed a young boy’s life for the better”
Karl Gollcher – Software
“I was really in to dinosaurs growing up so ANY book about dinosaurs or animals would really interest me.”
Kurt Gollcher – Finance and Support Officer
Flat Stanley by Jeff Brown
“I have really fond memories of Flat Stanley, I loved that book growing up!”
