4D nominated for Education Investor awards

Some great news hit the 4D office last Friday as the leading education business magazine, Education Investor, announced the nominations in their 2012 awards. We’re delighted to say we are down to the final five in the ‘Use of educational technology’ catagory and will find out if we have another trophy for the office in November at a swanky ceremony at the Hilton Park Lane.

The list of nominees is a varied and high quality selection so it’s great that we have been recognised alongside these companies. The full nominations can be found here.

The Grange School Opening

The Grange School in Manchester opened last week and we went down to see how the staff and pupils were using their brand new 4D Immersive Space.

The impressive new school in Gorton was officially opened by Councillor Afzal Khan from Manchester City Council, Paul Lake, an ambassador from Manchester City FC and the head of governors.

After the official opening and delicious buffet, there were full tours of the school including the immersive hall at the school. We had a great time meeting staff, pupils and guests of the school and heard about lots of brilliant lessons taking place already at the school.

We heard about a class being taken on an arctic exploration! The class got dressed in their warmest clothes and then ‘trekked’ from their classroom to the 4D immersive space. Greeting them was a wintery theme where they heard the story of Captain Scott’s last expedition to Antarctica.

It was also great to meet lots of pupils who love their new space. The roller coaster theme we installed on the 4D system is a massive hit to the extent that if pupils work hard in the lesson, they get the theme played as a reward! We had lots of requests for the theme during the afternoon.

Another pupil we met, Justin, is an animation whizz and we were lucky enough to see some of his work. The school are hoping that Justin’s animation will soon be shown on their giant projection screens. One of Justin’s animations can be seen below. We think it’s fantastic!

Overall, we had a great time at the opening. The staff and pupils made us feel very welcome and the new building is a fantastic new school which we are proud to be a part of.

Croxteth Primary Official Opening.

We had a fantastic time at the official opening of Croxteth Primary School last week. Firstly we were given a premiere of a performance with an ecological theme, we laughed, we thought, we clapped along! Then came full tours of the fantastic new building including the chance to explore the immersive space we recently installed.

The school had invited their local MP Stephen Twigg and Bishop James Jones of Liverpool and both praised the quality of the building and the quality of the young people who clearly love their new school. We are very proud to be a part of this amazing new school.

Our video shows a snippet of the people that came and visited the “Kaleidoscope Room” as the school have named our space. The music comes from the jazz band playing at the opening.

If you’d like to visit one of our spaces for yourself then just get in touch!
